Associazione Culturale Versiliadanza was founded by Angela Torriani Evangelisti in 1993.
The aim of Versiliadanza is to gather artists who claim the spreading of contemporary dance
throughout performing, organisation of cultural events linked with dance and contemporary art, dance
and choreography research carried out with different styles and in different sectors.
Since the year of foundation, Versiliadanza follows an original direction of research, developing
work-in-progress projects where artists, coming from other disciplines and with different artistic experiences,
cooperate to shape themes concerning with:
literary source - theatrical image
relationship between present and tradition
contemporary dance in relation with music and visive art
relationship between historical and contemporary dance
For many years carried on a research, in collaboration with Flavia Sparapani, researcher and
scholar of dance from XV to XVIII century, dancer, teacher and choreographer of original dance, about
baroque and contemporary dance, according also with the study of gesture, dance and Indian philosophy.
Versiliadanza, in these years, was invited and received the support of several national and international
festivals and theatres as: Festival La Versiliana, Festival di Castiglioncello, Estate Fiesolana, Fabbrica
Europa, Social Theater of Bellinzona, Festival Internazionale Nuova Danza di Cagliari, Teatro Greco di Roma,
Florence Dance Festival, Teatro della Pergola di Firenze, etc. |
Versiliadanza allowed the production of the Italian Platform for the Rencontres
Chorégraphiques Internationales de Seine-Saint Denis, in 1994 in co-operation with "La Versiliana
Festival", in 1996 in co-operation with "Fabbrica Europa Festival", in 1999 in co-operation with the District and
City of Florence and the Regional Project Toscanadanza and in 2001 in collaboration with the City of Florence
- Culture Dpt/ Progetto di Residenza Teatro Goldoni, the District of Florence and private regional
structures.
From 2003 is the Organiser of Looking for Visions - Perimetro stravagante sulla contemporaneità,
Festival realized in collaboration with the City of Florence - Culture Dpt.
In parallel, Versiliadanza is involved in an intensive work of teaching throughout several activities.
(workshops for dancers, actors and teachers, school projects, organization of events and performances
addressed to young generations).
Versiliadanza is a professional organisation for dance production legally recognized by the City
and District of Florence, Tuscan Region, Italian Government - Culture and Performing Department.
From 2001 receives an artistic residence at Teatro Goldoni di Firenze.
From 2003 is Member of ADAC - Associazione Danza Arti Contemporanee. |
